A recent update from the Department of Veterans Affairs now requires a pest (wood-destroying insect) inspection for all VA home loans in Oregon—regardless of the type or condition of the home.
This change places Oregon among a list of states where pest inspections are no longer conditional on the appraiser’s findings but instead mandatory for every VA-backed loan.

What This Means for VA Buyers in Oregon
If you're using a VA loan to purchase a home in Oregon, a wood-destroying insect (WDI) report is now required before a Notice of Value (NOV) can be issued. This report verifies that the home is free from termites, carpenter ants, beetles, and other damaging pests that can compromise a home’s structural integrity.

This applies to all properties—single-family homes, townhomes, and even some condominiums—across the state.
